Coordinator - Social Campaigns

Blavity is a venture-funded technology and new media company. We are changing the landscape of media representation by building the world’s largest digital community for Black Millennials. Blavity was founded in 2014 around a simple idea: enable Black Millennials to tell their own stories. Today, we average 1 Million monthly unique visitors, generate 7-10 Million monthly social impressions, and distribute our message across all major social media platforms. We are based in Downtown LA with team members working across North America.

Role Description:

The Blavity Fam is looking for a Coordinator that specializes in creating and executing supa dupa fly social media campaigns for multiple brands. The Coordinator-Social Campaigns will join the growing Customer Success (CS) squad and directly manage a portfolio of small-to-midsize customer campaigns. In addition, they will support other CS team members in fulfilling the social needs of larger, integrated customer campaigns and all other #squadgoals. The ideal candidate is:

  • Experienced in writing relevant, on-brand and engaging copy across multiple brands and social platforms
  • Excited to facilitate conversations on various social platforms
  • The first to know about social media trends, tools and engagement strategies
  • Adept at juggling competing timelines and content needs
  • Experienced with collaborating across multiple teams
  • Tuned into the trends, issues and pop culture reflected in the Black Millennial community (e.g. #blacktwitter)

Responsibilities:

  • Write social copy that appropriately blends the Blavity and Customer voice, ensuring consistency in style, quality, and tone across all major social channels.
  • Brainstorm and create original, highly engaging memes following brand guidelines.
  • Facilitate and monitor social conversations across multiple brands and platforms (e.g. Twitter chat, Facebook live)
  • Fully manage content scheduling/posting and day-to-day client communications for a portfolio of small-midsize customer campaigns.
  • Collaborate with the broader CS team on large branded campaign development and content creation.
  • Collaborate with Editorial and Marketing on additional campaign needs, including Influencer network and associated articles.
  • Maintain the master CS social media calendar and ensure alignment with other teams, including Editorial and Marketing.
  • Monitor campaign performance against customer KPIs to ensure goals are met, recommending opportunities for campaign optimization as needed.
  • Provide the customer and Sales manager with performance metrics at the end of each campaign period, leveraging pre-designed templates.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years experience writing branded social copy, with a track record of driving audience engagement across multiple platforms (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat).
  • Naturally detail oriented, with an obsessive need to accurately track and communicate progress.
  • Able to manage multiple social campaigns under tight and often overlapping timelines.
  • Familiar with the operations of optimizing paid ads on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Deep understanding of using both native and third-party platforms for scheduling posts and gathering performance insights (e.g, Buffer, Later, Tweetdeck).
  • Basic understanding of editing and saving meme images in Photoshop.
  • Adept at using the Microsoft Office Suite (.ppt, .doc, .xls)
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, self-starter who is motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment.
  • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture.
