Business Operations Analyst

Blavity is a venture-funded media company and lifestyle brand for multicultural millennials. Blavity was founded in 2014 around a simple idea: enable Black Millennials to tell their own stories. Today, we average 2 Million monthly unique visitors, generate 180 Million monthly impressions, and distribute our message across all major social media platforms. We are based in Downtown LA with team members working across North America.

Role Description:

The Blavity Team is looking for a Business Operations Analyst that will report to the Chief of Staff as part of the COO’s team. The Business Operations Analyst will play a critical role in assessing revenue-generating operational performance and driving progress against special initiatives as it relates to the Sales, Customer Success, and Ad Ops functions. The ideal candidate is:

  • Adept at understanding workflows and dependencies.
  • Knowledgeable of media, entertainment, and technology industries.
  • Excited to transform complex problems into insightful recommendations and solutions.
  • Able to quickly learn organizational structure, business strategies and processes


  • Support the Chief of Staff in identifying and analyzing complex business problems and associated risks; and defining the scope of activities required to both address these and meet key stakeholder needs.
  • Collect and analyze operational and customer data to determine performance trends and provide strategic recommendations around business opportunities.
  • Build dashboards and automated reports that enable Sales and CS teams to easily understand and predict pipeline and portfolio performance.
  • Support leadership in developing, documenting, and implementing new tools or processes in a way that maximizes team adoption and serves as a reference for future projects.
  • When needed, partner with external (vendor) stakeholders to define and prioritize business requirements, and develop detailed plans that deliver on business initiatives in accordance with established goals.


  • Advanced understanding of leveraging Excel to derive novel insights. You should not need a lot of guidance before diving into datasets!
  • Advanced experience designing Powerpoint presentations to tell a cohesive story around key insights or workflows.
  • Experience designing dashboards and reports to support business decisions.
  • Excellent (written and verbal) communication and presentation skills. You are not afraid to share and defend ideas in front of a leadership team!
  • Naturally detail oriented, with an obsessive need to accurately track and communicate progress.
  • Collaborative, entrepreneurial, self-starter who is motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment.
  • A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture.
  • MUST be able to work from the Los Angeles Headquarters.
