Event Marketing - INTERN

We are a venture-funded technology and new media company. We have assembled an amazing team of passionate, high-energy, focused rock-stars who cultivate our community and advance our strategic direction and we are looking for new people to help us continue to grow. Blavity is changing the landscape of media representation by building the world’s largest digital community for Millennials of Color. Blavity was founded in 2014 around a simple idea: Enable Millennials of Color to tell their own stories.

Today, we average 1.5 Million monthly unique visitors, generate 3-5 Million monthly social impressions, and distribute our message across all of the major social media platforms. We are based in Downtown LA with team members working across the world. Our signature events include thousands of attendees from across the country.

If you have an interest in the marketing and events industries, and are 21 years or older, this would be the role for you.

 

In this role you will be:

  • Developing, writing, editing, and curating content for websites, newsletter and social media channels
  • Creating blog, newsletters and social media copy
  • Reviewing and creating print and digital marketing materials
  • Conducting research on creative marketing strategies
  • Managing event image libraries
  • Maintaining event announcement schedules and timelines
  • Assisting in coordinating PR opportunities
  • Drafting pitches, monitoring media and social for coverage relevant to each event
  • Creating targeted media and email lists

 

To flourish, you must have:

  • Superb writing, grammar, punctuation, and oral communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail; highly organized
  • Work well within a team and independently on projects
  • Have a self-starter attitude  with the ability to multitask
  • Be agile in a demanding environment; solve problems quickly and accurately
  • Experience with Hootsuite, WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, and Basic HTML
  • Available at our DT LA office, twice a week

 

Some of what you will learn:

  • The latest trends and strategies in digital media and content marketing
  • How to source, edit, and create compelling digital content for a global audience
  • How to track analytics on blog posts and social media campaigns
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how promotion of an annual event differs wildly in execution and planning from a traditional product
  • How to plan and optimize digital ad campaigns based on a cohesive strategy

 

Applicants are required to be a currently-enrolled college or university student working towards a degree in one or more of the following areas: Business, Marketing, Advertising, Management, Communications/PR, Finance, Accounting, or MIS. Other majors will not be considered.
