What you will do...

 

The full-time Director of Growth and Marketing is responsible for formulating and implementing long-term multi-channel growth marketing strategies/ guide the company’s growth trajectory across Blavity, Inc.’s portfolio, and its digital offerings. Through the development of data-driven information, this position effectively grows unique visitors and scales engagement, in addition to strategically developing and carrying out company-wide paid marketing for organic and branded campaigns. This is a highly collaborative position, partnering with key stakeholders across the organization to lead the brand marketing team, optimize traffic-building partnerships, design our influencer strategy and drive organic growth.  

 

The ideal candidate is experienced in leading integrated digital Marketing Teams (agencies or multi brand), creating and executing an audience development strategy, and has been a key stakeholder of product, creative & engineering organizations. Additionally, they have the ability to lead strategic direction, makes data driven decisions, and strategically manages human, financial, and information resources. 

 

This position is based in Downtown LA and reports directly to the CEO. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 

  • Grow the scale and engagement of Blavity Inc’s audience on all platforms, and create and measure OKRs against monthly, quarterly, and annual audience growth and loyalty objectives.

  • Develop and implement a marketing data analytics strategy, including an executive dashboard that tracks marketing and growth OKRs. 

  • Collaborate with VP of Brand to prioritize, manage, and optimize traffic-building partnerships with other digital media organizations, including traffic swaps, backlinking, and content syndication.

  • Grow and manage a high performing  brand marketing team focused on content marketing and campaigns that drive new newsletter subscribers, unique visitors and engaged social channels.

  • Develop strategy for potential new mediums such as audio, native mobile and video

  • Develop and manage Blavity Inc’s paid marketing strategy 

  • You’ll develop, test, and scale innovative new ways to drive acquisition, conversion, engagement, and retention across channels leveraging Black culture and Blavity Inc’s community.

  • Lead product recommendations to the engineering team to drive social sharing and growth organically on the website.

  • Partner with Consumer revenue team to create dashboards and drive campaigns that result in new paid subscribers/consumers within the Blavity Inc Ecosystem. 

  • Lead team to develop and implement an audience segmentation strategy for each Blavity Inc. brand. 

  • Manage and support the career development of the Blavity Inc. Marketing Managers, Associates and Coordinators. 

  • Assess and implement new marketing, growth and analytics tools for the Marketing Team. 

  • Develop and implement a company-wide paid marketing strategy for organic and branded marketing campaigns.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Years of Experience: 10+ years of overall relevant experience; 2-3 years of experience in a strategic position

Management Experience: 4+ years of hands-on people management experience with teams larger than 10 people

Education: Bachelor's degree, Masters degree preferred 

Technology/System Requirements: Familiarity with Gsuite, including Google Analytics.
